The National Biennial of Light Art Austria 2010 is the first time in 2010 to view an exhibition of contemporary art, which is the use of the material light in the foreground.
General
The first "National Biennial of Light Art Austria 2010" with the motto "private light in public spaces" and is part of the action LALA 2010 in Austria. The LALA means Linz (Austria) and Langley (Austria), whre the two initiators of their studios. Linz has been the cultural capital of 2009, with the Lentos, Ars Electronca Center and the Bruckner House already well in the cultural landscape established. Langenezersdorf has the Hanak Museum and the Museum Charoux (Anton Hanak, and Siegfried Charoux are two major Austrian sculptor) a place in the Austrian museum landscape. From 13 April 2010, under the National Biennial public spaces to urban locations for international artists. Here, the sensitivity of the artist stands in the respective situations of places, streets, public buildings in the foreground, and not least the Bezugnehmung to the people who frequent these places or simply work there. Already-made works in individually selected öffentlichen Raum in einen neuen Kontext gestellt werden, und neue, gerade erarbeitete Werke sind gleichermaßen möglich. Es werden die Schlagworte Lichtkunst, Öffentlichkeit und Privatheit in den Mittelpunkt des kuratorischen Interesses gestellt Die künstlerischen Leiter der ersten Nationalen Biennale für Lichtkunst Austria 2010 sind Martina Schettina aus Langenzersdorf und Manfred Kielnhofer aus Linz.
Ausstellungsorte
Die der Biennale als Schauplätze dienenden öffentlichen Plätze werden von den Künstlern selbst ausgewält. Es gibt keinerlei Einschränkung, so dass jeder Künstler die maximal mögliche Bewegungsfreiheit für seine Arbeit vorfindet. Entsprechend heterogen ist auch die Reaktion der Passanten zu erwarten, die kurzfristig willentlich oder ungewollt zum Publikum werden. Auch der Kontakt mit Kunst kann bereits vertraut sein oder im Rahmen dieser Biennale erstmals geschehen.
Konzept
Diese erste Nationale Biennale für Lichtkunst in Österreich hat als ehrgeiziges Ziel die Konstruktion einer interdisziplinären Schnittstelle zwischen Gesellschaft und Kunst, die sich aus der Spontanität und dem temporären Zustand der Situation ergibt. Mit der unerwarteten Konfrontation des Publikums mit künstlerischen Positionen in öffentlichen Plätzen lehnt sich diese erste rein Österreichische Biennale für Lichtkunst mit internationaler Beteiligung zudem ganz bewusst an das Konzept der 1965 von Joseph Beuys in Düsseldorf durchgeführten Aktion „wie man dem toten Hasen die Bilder erklärt“ an, erlaubt doch die 'unvoreingenommene Öffentlichkeit'’ den direkten Dialog von urbanem Leben mit der Kunst und umgekehrt.
Künstler
Unter den ausgewählten Künstlern für die künstlerischen Darstellung und die Vorstellung bereits existierender Werke finden sich sowohl spezielle Vertreter der Lichtkunst, als auch Künstler, die einmalig den Werkstoff „Licht“ als einen neuen Bestandteil in ihre Arbeit mit integrieren. Die Darstellung der gesellschaftlichen Phänomene und interdisplinären Prozesse durch bildende Künstler aller Sparten erreichen durch die Concomitant use of light will "another dimension.

The opening times of the Biennale 0-24 Clock are just as extraordinary as the visits. These are dependent on chance as it can not be predicted when and where the Biennale artists realize their objects, and how long it is in the public domain.
